1st Line Network Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative individual with a passion for learning to join our team as a 1st Line Network Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to design, implement, and maintain our expanding network infrastructure. Must Have:
- At least three years’ experience delivering Fortinet/Cisco and or Juniper Wan and Lan Solutions
- CCNA Certified
- Have PRTG and Visio experience
- Experience trouble shooting OSPF and BGP WANs
- Designing and planning and implementing network systems experience – (simple designs – drawing Visio diagrams of single or two circuit deployments – very basic)
- Live local to the office and have own transport
This position is within the Network Operation Centre team at Britannic Technologies, offering technical support for LAN/WAN and reporting directly to the Network Services Team Leader. We are looking for candidates with at least three years of experience in delivering Fortinet/Cisco and/or Juniper WAN and LAN solutions. Familiarity with essential tools like PRTG and Visio is a must, while knowledge of VMWARE technologies is advantageous.
Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks for our clients, including resolving trouble tickets, designing systems, implementing solutions, and providing ongoing support. You will play a pivotal role in developing detailed configuration designs, testing implementation plans, and facilitating integration to ensure successful project delivery. Additionally, you may contribute to pre-sales activities, participate in pre-build stages, and provide initial on-site support, all while maintaining a primary office-based role with occasional visits to customer sites or Data Centres.

Role Specific Responsibilities
- Provide 1stline network infrastructure support. This will include but not limited to the support, configuration and installation of various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Take ownership and monitor the progress of ongoing and escalated cases through to resolution.
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
- Provide Level-1 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues with switching technologies- like STP, VLANs, VTP.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Good understanding and troubleshooting skills on the Optical Network and fibre connections, Optical interfaces, SFPs/ GBICs and etc.
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
- Plan, design, and implement networked systems, including configurations, supporting/troubleshooting network problems and coordinating with customers for installation of such items as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Provide technology demonstrations and updates to both internal and external clients, in order to improve their understanding of the marketplace and portfolio and solutions.
- Develop comprehensive User Acceptance Tests, in conjunction with the client, which will enable client acceptance and financial sign-off to be achieved.
- Take responsibility for creating and maintaining installation procedures for new products.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge and records in relation to assigned projects, providing prompt and accurate information, advice and guidance to colleagues and Clients.
